1966 Fiat 500 F – NOW SOLD

Vehicle Description

1966 Classic Fiat 500 F *NUT AND BOLT RESTORATION*

Probably the best Classic Fiat 500 For Sale in the United Kingdom.

The car has been imported from Italy after a meticulous and incredibly careful-to-detail ‘nut and bolt‘ restoration. AutoBella Ltd had the pleasure of finishing off such a prestigious restoration with top-end of the market products and materials.

The Nuova Fiat 500’s were originally built to accommodate families in a slow-recovering economy for trips to the beach, nipping round town shopping, but also used by professionals and young couples. It was a very striving vehicle, which is what Fiat played their game with in their 1960’s advertising.

Designed by Dante Giacosa and manufactured between 1957 and 1975, it had undergone many design and mechanical tweaks overtime adapting to fast changing trends. Beginning its history with the 1957-1960 “500 N” Fiat introduced their micro-car with a 479cc engine producing only 13hp! This model featured a fabric roof folding all the way back to the rear of the vehicle – like that of a Citroën 2CV – rather than the later roof design, which only folds half way back along the roof. The “N” is one of three models featuring “suicide doors“.
Replacing the original N in 1960, the D looks very similar to its predecessor. However, it was fitted with a more powerful 499cc engine and a smaller convertible roof. The interior of both cars did not change tremendously over time, they were both fitted with fabric seat and door panel covers, featuring a white bi-spoke steering wheel finishing it off with a very beautiful and desirable round white speedometer.

AutoBella’s model, the Fiat Nuova 500 “F” was produced from 1965 onwards. The interior was refreshed with leather-looking seats, accommodating more stylish and better recognised tail lights. Also it was the end of an era for ‘suicide doors’ and it was finally fitted with conventional front-hinged doors.
The “F”, however still fitted the same badging, bumpers, clean metal dashboard and round speedometer of the “D” and the “N”, allowing it to take part among the most desirable and value rising 500 models.

This example of 500 F has undergone a full nut and bolt restoration,  to how it rolled out of the Turin production line in 1966. A complete engine and transmission overhaul have taken place while the car was being taken apart by a specialist bodyshop in Rome – Italy. Panels were changed and the whole shell was treated to prevent rust from appearing in the future. All the panel work and coachwork has been carried to to better-than-factory standards, using better materials than those available at the time, maintaining its classic sympathy.

No detail was left behind while restoring this Italian icon, including door handles, wing mirrors, opening locks and engine detailing. The stickers on the restored car jack and engine breaking in on the windshield are a proof of so.

An intensive list of components fitted to the car is available, and photos of the restoration come with the booklet of documents. The car starts at half an engine turn and purrs like a kitten. The synchronised gearbox flows beautifully between gears and needs no brute force to initiate it. With a brand new clutch, exhaust and electrical system, this car will guarantee an excellent city and escape from the city vehicle and a safe investment in your garage.
